Ensaios não destrutivos (END) : principais conceitos e sua importância para a aviação

Abstract

Resumo: O presente trabalho tem por objetivo tratar sobre a importância das inspeções realizadas em aeronaves, principalmente aquelas efetuadas através de métodos que utilizem ensaios não destrutivos. Ensaio não destrutivo - END - é definido como um exame de um objeto por uma técnica que não afete a utilização futura do mesmo. Definição essa que provém da American Society Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Esse tipo de teste serve para verificar a existência ou não de descontinuidade ou defeitos em materiais, através de princípios físicos definidos, sem alterar suas características físicas, químicas, mecânicas ou dimensionais e sem interferir em seu uso posterior. Por não afetarem os materiais submetidos aos ensaios, os mesmos, contribuem para a redução de custos, para o aumento da confiabilidade da inspeção em serviços e manutenção, na fabricação e na montagem. Baseando-se nessa definição, ressalta-se ainda mais a importância desses procedimentos para a segurança operacional da aviação. Serão apresentados conceitos, algumas das normas que regulam os END na aviação civil, qualificações necessárias para realizar esses procedimentos e um marco histórico na aviação, que levou a criação e modificação de normas.

Abstract: This study aims to address the importance of inspections on aircraft, especially those made through methods using non-destructive testing. Non-destructive testing - END - is set to an examination of an object by a technique that does not affect the future use of it. A definition which comes from the American Society Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). This type of test is used to check whether there is discontinuity or defects in materials through defined physical principles, without changing its physical, chemical, mechanical or dimensional and without interfering in their later use. Not affect the materials subjected to the tests, the same, help reduce costs for increased inspection reliability in service and maintenance, manufacturing and assembly. Based on this definition, further points up the importance of these procedures for aviation safety. Concepts will be presented, some of the rules governing END in civil aviation, necessary qualifications to perform these procedures and a milestone in aviation, which led to the creation and modification of standards.
