Lean manufacturing: Management model implementation in a rolled products manufacturing industry [Manufatura Enxuta: Implementação de um modelo de gestão em uma industria de produtos laminados]

Abstract

The Lean Manufacturing characterizes a different model of production, where resources are optimized and results are improved. This work presents a management model that uses the Lean Manufacturing concepts. This monograph explains the manufacturing model evolution, passing through craft model and mass production, until the Lean Manufacturing conception. It presents the main concepts of Lean Manufacturing, waste elimination and production continuous flow creation. It analyses the practical implementation of the concepts in a manufacturing company, showing the management model creation and the work done to implement continuous flow production. This monograph focuses the needs for implementation and the reached benefits, from a management standpoint.
