Extensão universitária e o desenvolvimento regional : um estudo sobre a região do Médio Paraíba Fluminense

Abstract

Resumo: A Extensão Universitária tem sido amplamente estudada e, vem revelando seu importante papel na sociedade. Ela atua como um meio de interação e aproximação da academia com a sociedade para a construção do conhecimento. Considerando a necessidade de progressivo entendimento sobre extensão esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar as ações de Extensão Universitária oportunizadas por Instituições privadas de Ensino Superior da Região do Médio Paraíba Fluminense e a percepção do setor produtivo da região em relação a estas ações. Tratou-se, portanto de uma pesquisa de caráter documental e de campo que soma análises quantitativa e qualitativa. O resultado da pesquisa documental sobre as instituições demonstrou que elas atuam com inúmeras ações de extensão, o que resulta em uma maior e melhor relação com a sociedade, contribuindo assim, ainda mais para o desenvolvimento da Região do Médio Paraíba Fluminense. Porém, estas instituições precisam repensar melhor ao expor seus produtos de extensão em seus endereços eletrônicos que apresentaram ausência de informações. Quanto às percepções do setor produtivo, os resultados demonstram que representantes deste setor têm pouca participação nas ações de extensão e conhecimento parcial sobre as diretrizes de extensão. Os estudos também mostraram que as Instituições privadas de Ensino Superior têm aproximação com o setor produtivo local, mas ainda se faz necessário que as instituições estreitem mais este relacionamento, não só com o setor mencionado, mas também com outros setores da região, visto a importância da ampliação da interação entre o conhecimento produzido dentro das IES e a apropriação desse conhecimento pelos vários segmentos populacionais e a retroalimentação para as IES acerca de seus esforços de construção de conhecimento.

Abstract: The University Extension has been widely studied and it has been revealed its important role in society. The Extension acts as a means of interaction and approach between the academy and the society in order to construct knowledge. Considering the need for progressive understanding about extension, this study aimed to analyze University Extension actions provided by private Higher Education instituitions from the Middle Paraíba Fluminense region and it also analyzes the perception of the productive sector from that region in terms of these actions. This is a researching with documentary feature and field search feature that adds quantitative and qualitative analysis. The result of the documentary research about the Higher Education instituitions demonstrated that they work with many extension actions, which results in a bigger and better relationship with society, thus these actions contribute further to the development of the Middle Paraíba Fluminense region. However, these institutions need greater attention to exhibit their extension products on their websites which showed lack of information. Regarding perceptions of the productive sector, the results show that representatives of this sector have little participation in extension activities and partial knowledge about the extension guidelines. These studies also showed that private higher education institutions have closer ties with the local productive sector, but still it is necessary that the institutions narrow this relationship a bit more, not only with the mentioned sector, but also with other sectors of the region, given the importance of expansion of interaction between the knowledge produced within the IES and the appropriation of this knowledge by the various population segments and its feedback to the HEIs about their efforts to building knowledge.
